Money in a Minute: Tricks to get BOGO deals for free

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) -   We always tell people to collect their coupons in pairs.  It doesn't matter if you get them in 2s, 4s, 6s, 8s, or more.

I once learned a great tip from Delly Mellor, the blogger behind the blog Delly's Deals.  She tells people to buy papers in twos because that comes in handy during buy one get one deals.

Let's do a little math here.

Let's say Smart Balance Milk regularly costs $2.99 per carton.  But one week, it's on sale for buy one get one free.

You also have 2 coupons that give you $1.50 off (each.)

So, two milk cartons cost a total of $2.99.  Subtract 1.50 and another 1.50.  That means you're paying nothing!  Well, except for the cost of the coupons from the paper.

It's simple math – saving double the coupons can give you double the savings.

A lot of couponers tend to get several newspapers each Sunday.  That is still the best way to start saving money.  the coupons tend to be higher in value than online coupons.
