Firefighters have extinguished the house fire on Allen's Lane, between Wrightsville and Oleander in Wilmington. The fire broke out around four o'clock this afternoon, heavy smoke filling the sky and flames shooting out of the house.
Firefighters battled live power lines that the fire took down. Flames shot out of the house, fully engulfing the front and inside of the structure.
It was unoccupied at the time, but someone does live there. There were no injuries.
Fire officials do not know yet what caused the fire or the circumstances surrounding it. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within about 45 minutes, but the live power lines created additional problems.
Firefighters are still at the scene investigating. They are making sure there are no smoldering remains, and the charred structure is not in danger.
