Final chance to speak out on redistricting

On Thursday night parents in New Hanover County had one final chance to weigh-in on a controversial school redistricting plan.

The third and final public forum was held at the Gregory School in Wilmington. It's the only meeting held in a predominantly black neighborhood.

The county school board is re-shuffling school assignments for the fall of 2005. Their proposed plans calls for busing thousands of children outside their district so the schools can be better integrated.

Opponents say the plan is unfair to children who have a far distance to travel. Others say it's too complicated.

The school board is scheduled to vote on a final plan in the next two months.
