WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Officers with the Wilmington Police Department broke up a female crime ring that focused on stealing from cars throughout the city.
According to Detective Merritt, the women broke into at least 40 cars in Wilmington, swiping electronics, GPS systems, cash and credit cards.
Merritt said the women pawned some of the stolen items at a store on Market Street, connecting them to the crimes.

Merritt said New Hanover County Sheriff's deputies and the Leland Police Department are looking into if the women are behind a series of larcenies in those communities as well.
