SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) - Filming for the movie Safe Haven will begin in just a few weeks, according to a flier sent out by movie executives.
Local business in Southport received word that film crews have already begun to build sets in downtown Southport.
A number of business owners say crews are constructing a building to be featured near the Yacht Basin.
WECT.com told you a few weeks ago that movie execs already set up an office in the heart of downtown Southport.
The flier sent out to locals shows a picture of the structure crews are building. Owners said it is a building with a screened-in room and porch which looks like a fish house.
Most say the filming will be nothing but good publicity for the town as they begin to kick-off the start to summer on Memorial Day weekend.
Locals expect even more congestion this summer season and movie executives agree. On the flier they've told people to be aware that traffic patterns may change due to construction and filming.
Folks who own condos and homes in the area say they've been reached by film crews looking for housing.
Safe Haven is a film adaptation of the Nicholas Sparks novel.
