Smoking ban petition moves forward; sheriff's son pleads guilty; tiny baby

The idea of a smoking ban in Wrightsville Beach is an issue that's still burning. Today, the New Hanover County Board of Elections verified that enough people have signed a petition supporting the ban to allow it to move forward.

The son of a local sheriff pleaded guilty to a Level 5 DWI in a courtroom today. He will be under 12 months of unsupervised probation and will have to complete 24 hours of community service.
