HARRISOBURG, VA (WECT) - For the fifth time in his career, UNCW head baseball coach Mark Scalf is the CAA Coach-of-the-Year.

Andrew Cain, Thomas Pope and Tyler McSwain were each named to the All-CAA First Team.

Scalf's Seahawks finished the season with 24 league wins, one off of the programs' all-time mark of 25.

The end result wasn't indicative of the start to the season.

UNCW began the year with three wins over the first 12 games, and was just 16-15 in early April before winning 19 of the final 24 games never losing a league series.

Cain hit .316 with 38 runs batted in, while Pope's .374 average led the team and was eighth best in the league. Right-handed pitcher Tyler McSwain owned an 8-3 overall record with a 3.17 era.

Heading into the CAATournament the Seahawks rank second in the Conference in batting, pitching and fielding earning a first-round bye.  UNCW will open the Tournament Thursday at noon against the George Mason-VCU game.
