WILMINGTON, NC - (WECT) - Some of the most prominent women in the Cape Fear region were honored Friday night.

Portraits of the 2012 Ladies of the Cape Fear were unveiled during a reception at The Terraces on Sir Tyler.  This is the second year local women of distinction have been recognized for their contributions to the community.

The annual event benefits Women of Hope, a local charity that supports women dealing with different types of cancer.

A portrait of each of the honorees was revealed during the special ceremony.  Barnes painted the images of the women over the past several months and revealed the finished product Friday night.
