Reality sets in for the town of Cary. Jessica Faulkner, one of their own, is murdered at UNCW just one day before she was to drive back to her home for the summer.
"This has affected everyone, even if you didn't know her personally," says UNCW's student body president Zack Wynn.
People like Wynn who never even knew the 18- year old paid their respects on the night before she will be laid to rest.
Wynn says, "There were tons of flowers inside, pictures of Jessica covered the visitation hall, and there was some of there artwork there as well."
As her accused killer, 21-year-old Curtis Dixon, is indited by a grand jury Monday morning on charges of murder, kidnapping, and two sex crimes, former classmates from her Enloe High School and from UNCW came to remember a girl they say was smart, artistic, and had an infectious smile.
Hundreds of Jessica's family and friends made it through the front doors of the Brown-Wynne Funeral Home to pay their respects. A girl loved by so many, her family expects even more people to attend her funeral Tuesday afternoon where the 18-year old loved ones will say their final good byes.
