Cops charge teens after Summerville carjacking

SUMMERVILLE, SC (WCSC) -

Investigators with the Summerville Police Department have charged two teens in connection with a carjacking at a library parking lot on Monday.

Police say the victim was in his car and getting ready to leave a library on Old Trolley Road when one of the suspects put a gun to his chest and told him to get out of the vehicle.

Police say the suspects then crashed the car into another vehicle in the area of Rose Lane and Azalea Drive. The suspects then took off on foot.

Bryan Howell, 19, and a 15-year-old have been charged with armed robbery, carjacking, and possession of a weapon during a crime of violence.  Howell is also charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The juvenile was taken to Columbia where he is being house in the Department of Juvenile Justice.

Howell was taken to the Dorchester County Jail.  He is set to appear in bond court on Wednesday.
