WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - You don't have to be a native of Wilmington to quickly understand how important this time of year is around here.
The North Carolina Azalea Festival is a special time each and every spring. Whether you dress in your nicest bonnet and sundress, a bright seersucker suit or even just walk around downtown in your jeans and t-shirt to enjoy the sights, the festival truly does offer a lot of different opportunities.
I hope you take part in it. If you haven't, I encourage you to. Sure, the concerts and some of the events cost money. But sponsorships can't cover it all and give us the plethora of fun and interesting things to do. But there are plenty of free opportunities too. You can attend the parade or just take in the street fair and the music along the riverfront. The "people-watching" alone is worth a trip downtown.
This festival has a great reputation across the country. It's a proud moment for Wilmington. And I'm glad to get to take part in it each year.
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
