BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) - An investigation involving three-year-old Jaronn McAllister, Jr., who was dropped off at a hospital where he was pronounced dead, has many people asking what really happened the night before.

It also remains unknown as to why Montey Murray, one of the two men who last saw the boy, led deputies on a chase after he dropped McAllister off at that hospital.

Now, with the child gone, McAllister's grandparents, Vera and Ulysses, say they want closure, adding that a lack of answers surrounding the case has them feeling frustrated.

The McAllisters say Jaronn's mother, Candice Young, has remained tight-lipped since she left her son in the care of two men unrelated to the child.

However, Young isn't the only one not saying much.  The grandparents say investigators have not reached out to them to let them know where they are in the investigation.

Preliminary autopsy results that show Jaronn died from internal bleeding of the liver due to blunt force trauma.

Still, the McAllisters feel like they aren't getting the entire story from investigators.  If they don't start getting answers soon, they say they plan to hire their own private investigator and lawyer.

"I know they can't bring the baby back, but I need to know what killed that baby," said Ulysses. "I know they killed the baby by accident or what. If they did it by accident, they need to tell someone."

District Attorney Jon David says he cannot comment on any current pending investigations.

According to Chief Gause, officials with the Shallotte Police Department have yet to see the autopsy report themselves.

He added that they are still waiting on evidence that was sent to the SBI labs, and that the situation iusi still being investigated as a suspicious death.

Jaronn Jr.'s father is currently incarcerated in New Jersey.
