An App a Day: Gas Buddy

WILMINGTON, NC (WSFX) – The Gas Buddy app will help you save money on the go.

Gas Buddy is free and available on iPhones, Androids and Blackberrys.  The app helps you save money from just anywhere.  We thought it might be a great app to take with you on a road trip.

Just type in the city or zip code, and it will find the cheapest gas near you.  It's not right, you can also type in the price and submit the changes.  Gas Buddy will also tell you when it was last updated, so you feel like you're getting the information in real time.

One of the cool things is that for every gas price reported, you can earn points towards prizes.  Gas Buddy prides itself on being a community of people working together to update the prizes.

Special thanks to Verizon Wireless for helping us compile this list.
