RALEIGH, NC (WECT) – Gov. Bev Perdue has announced that she plans to block higher tolls on state ferry routes.
Perdue says she plans to sign an order by putting a 12-month suspension on the higher tolls.
The General Assembly told the Department of Transportation to put the tolls in place by April 1 to create $5 million in new revenues.
Perdue says the ferry taxes would put a burden on those still recovering from Hurricane Irene.
