Wilmington police are looking for a connection between two armed robberies..a few days..and a few blocks apart. The most recent..just a few hours ago. Police say both businesses may have been robbed by the same men.
We're near the corner of 11th and Marstellar streets outside Roofing Tools and Equipment, Co., which is less than four blocks from Steve's Seafood , the scene of last week's armed robbery.
Police say two men wearing bandanas over their faces walked into roofing business, located at 1100 Marstellar St., just before five o'clock this evening. An employee at the business was just about to go home, when he was ordered to hit the floor at gunpoint. The robbers took his wallet, two cell phones and some keys.
The suspects told the man to count to twenty, and if he didn't, they would shoot and kill him.
They didn't do that, but they did crack him on the head with the gun before taking off with what police say was a sizable amount of money.
Police say that's similar to what happened at Steve's Seafood last Wednesday evening. Two men with guns ordered employees and a customer into a back room, then took their money and stole cash from the store.
Police say one of the robbers that hit the roofing business was wearing blue jeans, a brown long sleeve t-shirt and a blue bandana over his face.
