Girl Scouts will celebrate 100th birthday in style

Posted: Updated:

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Girl Scout cookies orders are expected to be ready this weekend, just in time for the organization to celebrate its 100th birthday.

Hundreds of current and former girl scouts from New Hanover, Brunswick and Pender counties will come together in downtown Wilmington March 10 to celebrate the special occasion.

The event begins with a ceremonial walk across the Isabel S. Holmes Bridge from 10:00 a.m. – noon, then a lunch will follow at the Wilmington Convention Center.

Some of the area's most successful women who grew up as Girl Scouts will be on hand.

Organizers say the event will give the girls and opportunity to celebrate together and see how successful so many women have become because of their experience with Girl Scouts.
