WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Pine Valley Market is excited to announce it's expanding to one of Wilmington's well known attractions – the Cameron Art Museum.

The owners of the Pine Valley Market will operate the new restaurant called Johnnie's Café inside the museum.

"[The Cameron Art Museum has] been after us for a while and we finally knew it was the right time," explained Kristy Ferretti, owner and chef at Pine Valley Market. "They are under new leadership and we clicked really well. We're kind of a family of our own, so it just all came together."

New restaurants are something you don't see very often as people are choosing to eat out less often in an effort to save money and causing owners to close their doors.

"We definitely had our struggles - days when we thought the lights weren't going to stay on," explained Ferretti. "But I think the last year or so we've gotten a lot better in knowing how to trim the fat and we've had tremendous support from customers."

Pine Valley is not alone – other restaurants are popping up in the area, including Las Olas located in the Forum. The eatery that offers Mexican-baja cuisine says it's all about the quality of food and services that keeps people coming through the door.

Owners say their unique menu also adds to their success. They have a wood fire grill and commercial smokers to enhance their flavors.
