Post offices in Lake Waccamaw were once considered being closed.
COLUMBUS COUNTY, NC (WECT) - The US Postal Service took a big financial hit last quarter.
The company is reporting quarterly losses of $3.3 billion, and declining mail volume and mounting costs for future retiree health benefits is hurting the mail provider.
USPS officials are warning of suspending some postal operations unless Congress acts to address some of the organization's monetary problems.
Additionally, the Postal Service would also like to raise stamp prices, reduce health and labor costs and eliminate mail delivery on Saturdays.
Post offices in Lake Waccamaw and Surf City were once considered being closed, but they were spared.
