Blackhawk Helicopter visits school

Some Ogden Elementary School students are taking their math and science classes to a new level--literally.

To give them a boost, the National Guard "Starbase" program made it's first trip to Wilmington. Starbase is a national program where former teachers, now Starbase commanders, teach fifth graders about math and science. All the learning includes hands-on activities and experiments, focused mostly on flying. But the highlight of the week is touring an actual Air National Guard Blackhawk Helicopter. These fifth graders speak highly about the program.
Starbase is hoping to have a site in Fort Fisher by next fall. That way, the program will be available to all schools in the area.
