WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Investigators have determined a house fire at 806 Orange Street Wednesday night was accidental.

According to Fire Chief David Hines, all possible causes were ruled out except a wall heater on the second level of the home.

The building contained five apartments - two on the first level, two on the second level and one on the third.  All of the people living in the apartments are now without homes. The American Red Cross is helping them relocate.

Hines said the first crews on scene dealt with very heavy fire conditions, but they were able to get the fire under control.

The fire chief said the structure suffered an estimated $200,000 in damages and $75,000 for the contents inside.

No injuries were reported, but at least one cat was found dead.
