BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A man was killed in a traffic accident Monday afternoon in Brunswick County.

According to Highway Patrol Sgt. C.K. Parks, Sarah Stephens, 65, was attempting to cross US 17 to make a left turn into the Brunswick Electric Membership and failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

Stephens pulled out in front of Debra Burns, 48, who was driving northbound on US 17 and crashed into her vehicle.

Stephens' husband Peter Stephens, 70, was in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and died at Brunswick Novant Medical Center from injuries.

Stephen's care had about $7,000 in damages. No charges have been filed or will be filed against Sarah Stephens.
