Wing Fling at Carolina Beach in 2011.
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Organizers are busy preparing for the 16th Annual Budweiser Wing Fling. It will be held at the Boardwalk in Carolina Beach for the second year in a row.
Thousands will gather for the event to enjoy wings, drinks, music and friends. Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights is the headlining band, while the supporting bands include Hoots and Hellmouth and RocketSurgery.
This year, the event will take place March 24 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 10 and are available online at www.wilmingtonwingfling.com.
General admission tickets are $15 and include wing tasting. VIP tickets are $20 and include free shuttle to the event and early entry through a VIP gate.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Wilmington's Residential Adolescent Achievement Place and the National Education Foundation scholarship fund.
Former Carolina Beach Mayor Joel Macon welcomed the event to the Pleasure Island town in 2011. He was happy with the big turnout and the extra visitors to the area.
Carolina Beach Police Chief Billy Younginer said the 2011 event went better than expected. He gave credit to bike patrols in the surrounding parking lots for keeping the drinking inside the gated area set up for the event.
