Gerald Leon Patrick (Source: New Hanover County Jail)WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – According to police, Gerald Leon Patrick, 25, has been charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon and resisting arrest.
Around 5 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a call about a domestic dispute involving a weapon in the 500 block of Maides Avenue, according to officials.
When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly saw Patrick on the porch with a large knife. He then went inside the home.
Officers ordered him to come out and give up his weapon. He came back out with the knife and a handgun.
Police say they tried to negotiate with Patrick, but he went back inside the house and brought out a woman. He began yelling and pointing the gun at her head, eventually moving into the front yard. At that point, officers used a taser on Patrick.
He is being held at the New Hanover County Detention Facility under a $100,000 bond.
