Gardeners anticipate spring at annual show

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Area gardeners prepared to get their hands dirty for spring planting Saturday at the 19th annual Wilmington Garden Show.

More than 50 vendors at Cape Fear Community College's Schwartz Center showed folks how to do plant almost anything they'd like to in their gardens.

Organizer Melissa Hight said they've already had a steady flow of people go through the Schwartz Center all day Saturday and people are anxious to put what they've learned to work.

"Especially this year because it has been warm," said Hight. "They're really anxious to get out in the yard and start working," she said. "So everybody's here getting new ideas, lots of education and everything to do with the outdoors."

The event continues from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday at the center. Additionally, Sesame Street's Elmo will be making appearance 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
