SOUTHPORT, NC (WECT) - Who knew a free trip to the Super Bowl was just a click away?
Andrew Guseman apparently did.
By simply downloading an app to his laptop, the Southport resident has an eighth row seat for Super Bowl XLVI in Indianapolis on Sunday.
"It's the trip of a lifetime," Guseman said from his home Thursday night. "To see the single biggest one-day sporting event in the world, you know to see that in person is huge, it's exhilarating."
The trip became a reality just three weeks after Andrew downloaded the "Giving Assistant" app after visiting FootballForGood.org. Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson partnered his All Day Foundation with the app. After installing the app, individuals receive 100 entries towards winning the prize, and additional entries can be gained by inviting friends to download the app or by making purchases through partnering companies.
"I know that I got the 100 entries after downloading the app, and I think I received more after buying things through Amazon.com, but I'm not sure. To be honest I was just drawn at random but it worked out great for me and I know that part of the money I spent will help less fortunate kids," Guseman said.
In addition to the all-expenses paid trip to the Super Bowl, Andrew was scheduled to meet Peterson in person, but that experience is temporarily on hold.
"Because of his injury and his rehabilitation we won't be able to meet him, but I was given an opportunity to possibly meet him down the road," Guseman said.
Andrew received two tickets to Super Bowl XLVI and is bringing his brother Joseph with him to Indianapolis to share the experience. The two will sit eight rows back in the end zone.
"The seats are obviously great, better than anything I would have ever been able to get on my own," Guseman added. "We could have been put at the top row of the stadium and I wouldn't have cared, I mean, it's the Super Bowl."
