Kure Beach Mayor expects Ocean Front Park to be open by summer

KURE BEACH, NC (WECT) – Kure Beach Mayor Dean Lambeth said he's "gradually optimistic" that the Ocean Front Park will be open by the summer.

He tells WECT.com that the town is working with the project's bonding company to find a new contractor.

Any overages will be charged to the bonding company, not the town. But the town will have to front any legal expenses dealing with the former contractor.

Lambeth anticipates that will cost less than $20,000.

Town leaders sent a letter to Integrity Builders in October telling them to stop all work on the project because they believed the builders were incorrectly installing concrete slabs.
