First in the nation: White Space network to launch in New Hanover County

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – New Hanover County will become the nation's first FCC-Approved Smart County using TV White Spaces Thursday.

Representatives from the FCC, Spectrum Bridge and the local government will ‘launch' the first commercial TV White Space network.  They will also talk about the importance of this historic event in the evolution of wireless communications.

The network will provide New Hanover County residents within range of the deployment area with several civic implementations around the county, like security and utilities monitoring.

The deployment will be broadcast live on the New Hanover County government TV channel, NHC-TV.
