Topsail Beach, Bald Head Island to receive funding for hurricane damage

BRUNSWICK COUNTY and PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) - Some area beaches will be receiving federal funds to help with cleanup efforts following the aftermath of Hurricane Irene.

According to a statement from Congressman Mike McIntyre's office, more than $6 million will be given to Topsail Beach, and $1.72 million will go to Bald Head Island via the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Public Assistance Program.

McIntyre says the money will help to nourish beaches for tourist season.
