Man gets winning lottery ticket for birthday, plans to share with family

GUILFORD COUNTY, NC (WECT) – A man from Guilford County is the third player to win $200,000 playing an Extreme Green scratch-off ticket, according to the NC Education Lottery.

William Sharon of Stokesdale won the top prize after his adult daughter bought the ticket for him as "an early birthday present."

The winning ticket, worth $136,001 after taxes, was purchased at the King's Crossing BP on NC 68.

Sharon said he plans to share some of his winnings with his family.

According to the NC Education Lottery, the organization has raised more than $2.11 billion for education initiatives statewide.
