Soldier from Fort Bragg pleads guilty to scheme to defraud gov't

FORT BRAGG, NC (WECT) – A soldier from Fort Bragg pleaded guilty in federal court Wednesday to conspiring to defraud the United States by false, fictitious and fraudulent claims.

According to the NC Department of Justice, Jimmy Negron, Jr., 27, submitted false and inflated travel claims from January 2009 to April 2010.  A Criminal Information report filed December 27, 2011 says the proceeds were deposited into personal bank accounts.

The fraudulent vouchers included travel or inflated expenses that hadn't happened.

Negron will face up to ten years behind bars, followed by up to three years supervised release.
