CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WECT) – Carolina Beach Town Council held a workshop Wednesday afternoon with members of nonprofit CBP3 to decide how to use $369,179 in grant money.
At the meeting, town leaders came up with both a short and long-term plan for two hotels owned by the town.
Renovations will begin on the Surfside and Guy Johnson hotels so that 20 to 30 rooms can open by March 1.
Town leaders bought the properties to make room for a state-funded pier project, which is on hold.
Council and CBP3 are searching for someone to manage the hotels again.
They are still hoping for $1 million in state funds to help pay off those properties.
Earlier this year Governor Bev Perdue announced Carolina Beach would receive a grant from the NC Parks and Recreation Trust Fund to help fund land acquisition, development and renovation of public park and recreation areas.
