NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Maddie Hasson makes her big debut Thursday night on Fox's new show "The Finder."
Maddie moved to California roughly a year ago to pursue her dream of acting and she's already landed a regular role. She'll play Willa, the child of a criminal family who helps the main characters solve cases.
Before she left town, Maddie wowed audiences on stage at Cape Fear Academy. She might be gone, but her friends and faculty in Wilmington are behind her 100%.
"She knows that we really care about her," said Emily Pollak, "and we're all really excited that she's made it big time."
Maddie left before finishing her sophomore year at Cape Fear Academy. She even left a production midway through rehearsals. It was an opportunity she had to take, according to Performing Arts Technician Ben Fancy.
"You could tell when she hit the stage that she had that spark," said Fancy.
Students painted the school's rock congratulating Maddie on her new role. They also posted a picture board to remind everyone on campus to watch the premiere of "The Finder" Thursday night on Fox.
"I'm really proud that she took a chance and pursued her dream," said Tala Gourdarzi.
