Brian Berger's case was continued until January 27.NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – New Hanover County Commissioner Brian Berger was in court Monday morning on charges of violating a protective order filed by his ex-girlfriend in June.
His case was continued until January 27.
The commissioner was arrested by Wilmington Police officers and charged with assault on a female after he ripped a car door handle off his ex-girlfriend's car.
This is one of many of his legal troubles. He was cited for speeding along Waltmoor Road and for driving with a suspended license last Thursday.
Berger said Friday that the suspended license issue involves an fee he did not know he owed to the county clerk of court's office, which was a result of a previous traffic charge.
Berger says he has since paid the fee, and he says his license is now reinstated.
