WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Doctors at Leland Pediatrics have seen lots of newborns over the last week. They also had two cases of strep throat and RSV, a respiratory illness seen in infants, but no confirmed cases of flu have been seen yet.
Dr. David Hill at Cape Fear Pediatrics also said he hasn't seen any confirmed cases of flu.
"We are not yet seeing many positive flu tests, but kids are starting to come in with high fever, vomiting, diarrhea, cough, and cold symptoms, so I suspect some of those cases are influenza that just have not yet tested positive," said Hill. "If this season behaves like prior seasons, now is about the time flu will start picking up."
Doctors say washing your hands is one of the best ways to prevent the flu and other illnesses.
