HARRELLS, NC (WECT) - Sampson County Sheriff's Deputies have arrested two people in connection with a home invasion call that they say turned into a murder case.
911 in Sampson County got a call early Thursday morning about a home invasion at 347 Bill Town Road in Harrells. The person who called gave a description of the suspect's vehicle and a deputy was able to stop the vehicle with two people inside from leaving the area.
After deputies got the home on Bill Town Road, they found the body of Gary Lee West, Jr. in his yard with obvious signs of trauma to the upper body.
Terrill Dewight Wells, 28 from Teachey, and Jennifer Lynn Norris, 20 from Wallace, have been charged in the case. Wells faces one count of murder, two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, one count of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon, one felony count of possession of cocaine and one felony count of possession of heroin. Wells is being held without bond on the murder.
Norris was charged with one count of accessory after the fact – murder and one felony county of possession of heroin. She's in the Sampson County Detention Center on a $775,000 bond.
Deputies say the investigation is continuing.
