UNCW students are coming together in efforts to stop a proposed tuition hike at state public universities.
The UNC Board of Governors - the panel that sets tuition rates - has postponed a vote on raising tuition at the 16 state campuses.
Members of the student government association addressed the proposed increases at a press conference Thursday.
They are trying to prove that a tuition hike would hurt students and families. They say more tuition means less opportunity for some students.
North Carolina Governor Mike Easely has asked the board not to raise tuition.
Several students will travel to Raleigh in March to make their voices heard at the Board of Governors meeting.
