WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Not everyone could stay up until midnight to celebrate the start of 2012, so the Wilmington Children's Museum helped kids to ring in the New Year before their bedtimes.
"It's a family friendly celebration for the new year at noon instead of midnight so kids who can't stay up late can be here for the party," said Mary Ellen Laughnan of the museum.
Anita Weinstein and her granddaughter are new to the area, and Weinstein said celebrating earlier is better for both she and her granddaughter.
"I never make it to midnight these days so it's been really great to have this for the kids," she said.
Several hundred kids and their families came out to the New Year's bash.
This is the fourth year the museum has held the event during the day.
