WECT Communities: Most viewed stories of 2011

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NC (WECT) – In March, WECT launched 14 websites targeted to showcase news in specific neighborhoods.  Viewers have the ability to write and submit their own stories to publish on the sites as well.

Stories range from hard news to special events in the community.  Viewers in South Brunswick County are utilizing this site as its leading the pack in web hits.

Here are your top five stories on WECT Communities:

5 – Undercover agents investigate 32-year-old Supply man
A Supply man was arrested after undercover agents purchased controlled substances during an investigation.

4 – Evacuations announced in Oak Island, Caswell Beach
Oak Island and Caswell Beach declared a state of emergency during Hurricane Irene and issued a mandatory evacuation for non-residents.

3 – Carolina Beach declares a state of emergency
The Town of Carolina Beach officially declared a State of Emergency Friday, Aug. 26 and issued a voluntary evacuation for residents in low-lying areas.

2 – WPD arrest two young men for several drug related charges
Narcotics investigators with the Wilmington Police Department arrested two young men on several drug related charges.

1 – 17-year-old charged with possession of multiple drugs
Augusta Bettee Hobbs, 17 of Supply, was arrested and charged in June for possession of several types of drugs.
