WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - The StarNews is reporting that The New York Times Co. agreed Tuesday to sell it, and 15 other newspapers, to Halifax Media Holdings, LLC.

It's reported the company will pay $143 million in cash to buy Times Co.'s Regional Media Group, which includes newspapers in the South and California.

The transaction should be final within a few weeks.
