I'm wearing my Christmas tie today and I'm ready to pass out some holiday wishes for some folks in our area. Here are a few items I'd like for Santa to deliver this year:
For Mayor Bill Saffo, a major league reason to tell the world why Wilmington is such a great place to live. But a minor league team and a new riverfront ballpark would be just fine.
For UNCW Chancellor Gary Miller, a winning lottery ticket big enough to help offset those many budget cuts at our local university.
For Commissioner Brian Berger, a personal assistant to try to help get him to his meetings on time.
For UNCW coaches Buzz Peterson and Cynthia Cooper-Dyke, a recruiting class full of tall, quick and talented players.
For Congressman Mike McIntyre, a mud-deflector shield for 2012. Once that campaign gets underway, you know he's going to need it.
For Jimmy English, our own wildlife rescuer and alligator catcher, a full-time cameraman so he can have his own local reality show.
For Chamber CEO, Connie Majure-Rhett, the "future" that the Cape Fear Future Commission is envisioning.
And for our many viewers, I hope you find everything you're looking for under your tree. And I really hope you get to surround yourself with friends and family and have a safe and enjoyable holiday.
Merry Christmas!
That's my turn. Now it's your turn. To comment on this segment, or anything else, email me at yourturn@wect.com.
