WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – County and city officials joined WECT/Fox Wilmington Monday afternoon for an official ribbon cutting of the newly renovated studio.
Raycom Media approved plans to improve the WECT/Fox Wilmington studio and newsroom at the end of last year.
The studio was the first phase of the project and was finished over the summer. The newsroom was the next part of the station to get a face lift. Finally, there is a green room and meeting area that was fixed up that also allows for expansion in the future.
Raycom Media CEO Paul McTear and General Manager Gary McNair had the honors of cutting the ribbon before an audience of employees and local dignitaries, including county commissioners and city council members.
"We have a beautiful, bright newsroom that we're proud to invite any guests in for interviews or even for tours. So, we've raised the newsroom to the same level of professionalism that our newsroom staff is," Paul McTear, Raycom Media CEO, said.
Raycom is an employee-owned company, which owns and/or operates more than 40 television stations in 18 states.
