WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – A Good Samaritan from Wilmington decided to lend a helping hand on Friday when he paid $400 dollars worth of people's unpaid layaway bills at the Kmart on South College Road.
Paul Musco said that he paid off about eight or nine receipts for people.
He said he did it after he was inspired by a news story from another market about someone doing the same thing.
"Just with the economy the way it is right now, you see so many families that are struggling and I know a few myself that are afraid to step forward and ask for help from the local organizations that are out there," said Musco. "So I just thought this was a good way to reach those people one step forward and give back to the community."
Musco says he nearly paid off those bills entirely, but he was forced to leave at least one cent as a remainder.
