Investigators say house fire was intentionally set

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Investigators have determined a house fire on Robert E Lee Drive was intentionally set Friday morning around 10:30. 

Officers arrested and charged Ronald Joseph Rose, 20 of Wilmington, in connection to the fire.  He was charged with felony counts of breaking and entering and second degree arson.

Firefighters were quickly able to contain the flames mostly to the garage, but the fire caused about $15,000 in damages..

According to Chris Walker with the Wilmington Fire Department, crews stayed at the scene to make sure the fire was completely extinguished.  Fire officials said it was completely out a little before 11:30 a.m.

The home was vacant at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The Wilmington Fire Department, Wilmington Police Department and SBI coordinated efforts in the investigation.
