Police identify young man killed on MLK Parkway

WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - Officers with the Wilmington Police Department are investigating a fatal accident that happened in the 1100 block of Martin Luther King, Jr. Parkway Friday morning just before 2:00.

According to Lucy Crockett with the Wilmington Police Department, Errol Dano Hosein, 23 of Hoboken, New Jersey, was killed in the crash.

The preliminary investigation revealed the driver of a tractor trailer was headed east on MLK Parkway at about 45 mph when Hosein darted into the path of the truck, according to police.

Crockett said no charges are pending in this case after consulting with the District Attorney's Office.

According to the traffic unit investigator, Hosein had been drinking before the accident.  The young man was apparently trying to walk to an address in Castle Hayne when he veered into the path of the truck.

Eastbound lanes of MLK Parkway were closed while crews worked to clear the scene, but reopened around 4:30 a.m.
