KURE BEACH, NC (WECT) - The town of Kure Beach is closer to terminating the contract on its Ocean Front Park.
Town council voted unanimously Wednesday night, giving Mayor Dean Lambeth the OK to end the deal with the contractor.
Work on the project stopped in October after town leaders raised concerns over several issues, including how workers set the concrete.
Mayor Lambeth said attorneys for both sides will meet Thursday.
If no agreement is reached, Lambeth is prepared to send a letter Friday. He says the letter will give seven days notice to terminate the contract, and will put the contractor's bond holder on notice.
The original date to open the oceanfront park in Kure Beach was March of 2012.
