A UNCW student displaying his desire for cleaner energy sources.
WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – UNCW students say that they're "dying" for clean energy.
In an effort to push for clean, renewable energy on campus, students dressed in surgical masks and put together a massive "die-in" on campus Thursday morning.
The students then outlined their bodies in chalk, leaving colorful imprints remaining on the ground when they left.
They said that the purpose of the die-in is to show they are tired of "dirty energy" and that campuses need to stop depending on coal for energy to power their computers and classrooms.
While students pretended to die for a while, they say that, ultimately, they hope to live to see a dependency on solar and wind energy.
