Beer Batter Shrimp

Beer Batter Shrimp

  • 10 ounces flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1 large egg, separated
  • 8 ounces Michelob Ultra Beer
  • Vegetable oil as needed, heated to 350 degrees
  • 3 pounds shrimp, peeled and devained
  • Flour as needed

Whisk together the flour and baking powder. Add the egg yolk and beer all at once and whisk until combined into a batter. Chill until use. Just before service, whisk the egg white into soft peaks and then fold into the chilled batter. Dip the shrimp into flour then lower the shrimp into the heated oil to deep fry 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
