BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WECT) – The body of a missing teenager has been found in Brunswick County just 200 yards away from his home, according to Shallotte Police Chief Rodney Gause.
Gavin Lane, 19, was reported missing and was last seen October 7 at Brierwood Golf Course around 2:30 p.m.
Gause said his body was found Tuesday morning. Officers do not suspect foul play at this time, but the investigation is ongoing.
A group of people in Shallotte dressed as Jesus and the two thieves heard about Lane's death and decided to dedicate their march to him.
"We're dedicating this to him, that his family would find comfort and that they would," said Jeff Register, who dressed as Jesus. "He would be glorified through it."
The group spent the day going from one church carrying a cross to another to help others remember what Jesus did.
They said many people supported their efforts by honking their horns or even approaching them to speak.
