PENDER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Deputies with the Pender County Sheriff's Office arrested a person they believe could be involved with a possible homicide.
According to Sheriff Carson Smith, James Gorby of Hampstead was arrested and charged with first degree murder Wednesday afternoon in connection to the death of Roger Arnold Mock I, 67.
Mock was found dead inside a home on Electric Lane. Gorby is Mock's stepson, according to the sheriff's office.
Preliminary autopsy results show Mock died of a gunshot wound to the chest and head. He was killed around noon Tuesday, but found Wednesday.
Mock's son, also named Roger Mock, said his father was an incredible man. He said his father was well liked in the community and was involved with the church.
When asked if this arrest was part of a larger investigation, Smith replied that there "could be other things."
