WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) - A teen from Wilmington has been arrested and charged for a fatal shooting at Club 609 in May.
The U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitives Task Force arrested Garry Orlando Hines, 18, around 1:00 Saturday morning at the Carolinian Inn on Market Street. He is charged with first degree murder.
Authorities believe Hines is connected to the murder of Cornelius Tremayne Blanks, 20 from Burgaw, on May 8. Robert Lee McGruder, III, also 20 from Leland, was stabbed in that incident as well.
There are conflicting reports as to where Hines went to school. Officials told us Hines withdrew from Mosley High School in June 2010, about a year before the shooting took place, though one school counselor tells us Hines attended Lakeside High School.
Neighbors described Hines as a quiet, respectful young man.
The investigation of the Club 609 shooting and stabbing is still open, so you are asked to call Wilmington Police Department at 910-343-3600 if you have any information.
